NSS

   With a motto of `NOT ME BUT YOU’, the NSS unit of this college has been very active with a tremendous response among students. Volunteers of this scheme have adopted nearby villages around Takali Dhokeshwar and completed several social service projects such as village cleaning, tree plantation, literacy and health campaigns, even construction of toilets, roads and check dams. Lectures of eminent personalities on social themes such as personality development, health and hygiene aspects and eradication of superstition have also been arranged. The programme officers and volunteers have also won praiseworthy recognition for their contribution to this activity from several organizations.

   Numbers of volunteers were selected by Savitribai Phule Pune University for various District, State and Special Camps. All volunteers have contributed  in “Swachha va Swastha Bharat Abhiyan”, conservation of environment, conservation of water, national integration, anti-tobacco campaign, anti AIDS campaign, blood donation camps, road safety campaign, save girl campaign, Tree Plantation etc.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government sponsored public service programme conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was formally launched on 24th September, 1969, the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation. Aimed at developing student’s personality through community service, NSS is  a  voluntary association of  young peoples  in Colleges  and  Universities  level working for a campus-community linkage.

Aim:

Personality Development of students through community service.

Objectives
  • Understand the community in which they work.
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community.
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process.
  • Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  • Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems.
  • Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities.
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disaster and Practise national integration and social harmony.
NSS Motto:
  • The motto of NSS is ‘Not Me but you’.  This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the other person’s point of view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings.
